Capitalism’s brutal march toward a generalized global war against peoples and workers, abroad and at home, is leading humanity and our planet toward total obliteration.

For many, this is already true. The genocide inflicted on the Palestinian people in Gaza for more than two years is now compounded by the ongoing massacres under the aegis of Trump’s “peace council,” which aims at nothing less than the further appropriation of Palestinian land, in Gaza as in the West Bank, by speculators and profiteers, and the forced expulsion of the Palestinian population.

The Israeli-U.S. war on Iran continues to spread across the Near and Middle East, causing countless deaths and destruction in Iran as well as in Lebanon, with irreparable consequences. The wars that for years have been devastating Ukraine, Russia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to ravage human life in unprecedented levels for the sake of profiteers and their quest for profit, markets, and resources.

In France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, and other European countries, imperialist governments of all political colors are lining up one after another behind U.S. imperialism and Trump, which more and more aims its guns towards China.

To this we can add the U.S. military coup and kidnapping of President Maduro in Venezuela, and the accompanying pillaging of its oil reserves by U.S. corporations, the starving of Cuba by U.S. imperialism, and the threats for further military aggression in the region, including against Mexico and Greenland. At home, the attacks against workers and immigrants, against women and LGBTQ people, the occupation of cities by militarized federal agents, and the open murder and repression of activists are but the domestic corollary of the globalized war for profit and markets.

Now more than ever, Rosa Luxemburg’s statement at the outbreak of World War I rings true today: “Either the triumph of imperialism and the collapse of all civilization as in ancient Rome, depopulation, desolation, degeneration a great cemetery. Or the victory of socialism, that means the conscious active struggle of the international proletariat against imperialism and its method of war.” This is the task at hand, to save humanity and our planet.
